Thirteen more Covid fatalities have been recorded in the previous 24 hours, representing the viruss biggest single-day toll since November last year. As a result, 59 deaths have been documented in the last seven days, up from 38 in the previous seven days. While mortality has remained low during the current outbreak, the death toll has increased as the number of active cases has increased. The number of active cases will likely exceed 30,000 by Friday night, up from 16,300 the previous week.

The Union Health Ministry stated, 1.78 lakh Covid-19 tests were performed across states/UTS in the previous 24 hours, with a positive rate of 3.39%.

Covid-19 instances in India have been steadily increasing, with average daily cases climbing to 4,188 in the week ending April 7 from 571 in the week ending March 17.

In India, eight states have a high number of Covid cases, with ten or more districts reporting more than 10% positive in Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi, and more than five districts reporting more than 5% positivity in the states of Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi.

The health ministry stated that Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana are among the states affected.

At a review conference with states on Friday, the Union Health Ministry emphasized the significance of increasing public awareness efforts about Covid proper behavior.

Mansukh Mandaviya, the health minister, has asked all state health ministers to personally check and verify the readiness of all logistics and infrastructure, including the availability of sufficient allocated hospital beds, as well as the stock of vital pharmaceuticals. States were also requested to keep their Covid data on the Covid India Portal up to date.
